The 2017 Caulfield Cup is all set as the FINAL FIELD for the group one at Caulfield Racecourse.
A total of 17 stayers will compete to be crowned the winner of the 2017 BMW Caulfield Cup this Saturday.
The race will feature 3 stayers who won their last races and 3 who finished second, including the Ben Melham trained and current $4.40 (with Neds.com.au) favourite, Johannes Vermeer.
The biggest surprise was the absence of the much-hyped Japanese stayer Admire Deus because of a serious injury during trackwork.
Despite the absence of Admire Deus, Weir still hopes that two of his stable’s products, Humidor $8.00 and Amelie’s Star $8.50, will take The Cup past the winning post at Caulfield.
The Kerrin McEvoy trained Bonneval $7.50 is another stronger contender in the bookies eyes, and with 3 wins in the last 5 races, the speedy mare can indeed be expected to give a tough challenge on the racecourse.
Another major contender from the Murray Baker & Andrew Forsman will be Jon Snow $11.00, which finished third on Saturday in the Ladbrokes Stakes.
The Lindsay Park stable will also be hoping that one of their four racers, including He’s Our Rokkii, Ventura Storm, Boom Time and Harlem will bring success in the race.
